What I’m Writing!

When I originally called this blog, My Writing Life, it was supposed to be strictly for writing fiction.

That lasted maybe a month, tops.

A few years later, I decided to write about things that interested me; as the people I was hanging out with at the time made it quite clear they weren’t interested in my fondness for comics, collectibles and movies – so I decided to find people who were.

This was a good move, IMHO.

Then I started writing about my struggle with Nanowrimo 2015. It got me a lot of readers, and I’ve written more frequently in this last year than in the past years.

Lately, I’ve noticed I’ve been in a rut; so I started writing short fiction drabbles again, one of which I will share with you today:

“Helping Hand”

They had no words for cyborgs – no words, at least, that our translators recognized.
A primitive species – barely able to make fire; still sleeping in caves; drawing on the walls with the burnt ends of sticks.
But they would not be enslaved this day.
Not if we had anything to do with it.
We drove off the cyborg menace, and left the inhabitants of the small, blue planet to develop in peace.

Which brings me to today’s announcement – I’ve decided to write a longer work, of about 25,000 words or 100 pages.

My ultimate goal is to publish it as an ebook – but right now, the goal is to get it FINISHED.

This morning I wrote the 2nd day of 1000 words (my goal is 1000 words per day, or four pages.)

I will report on my progress every day – because, let’s face it – it’s the only thing that will keep me writing.

But in 25 days, I expect to have a first draft of 25, 000 words.

And maybe, by then, I will even tell you what it’s about.

See you tomorrow!
