Good morning to me!

Took a picture of my night stand this morning, as it looked so pretty with the candle lit:

I enjoy laying in bed. Sometimes I wake late at night, and just read or watch YouTube videos in bed on my tablet. Today I lit the Silver Pine candle DW Home (bought last year at Home Goods.)

Lately, I’ve been reading been rereading Jane Eyre. I really do like something moody to read now that we are in winter. Usually, it’s my old favorite, Against Nature by Huysmans, but I really wanted to read Jane Eyre once more. I read it in college, for class, but who really pays attention to nuances when you’re assigned to read a book in a few days?

Later, after college, I was laying on my bed, and I took down the old, battered copy I had (bought at a yard sale for a quarter),and I started reading it again. It was raining heavily outside (just like in the book!) and I was spellbound. I carried it down to lunch and dinner and read while I ate. I think I finished it around midnight.

So when my old copy finally died during the move, I bought a brand new copy from Bam! and started reading. It’s a Penguin Classics edition – I was tempted by a hardback, but the only hard backs I read are decorating or entertaining books.

Speaking of entertaining books, I’ve also been reading The Vintage Tea Party Book by Angel Adoree. I love entertaining, and I love tea. I love Angel’s retro 40s style, even though I prefer the more modern looks from that era. Ironically, I bought her book, The Vintage Tea Party Year first (it’s her second book.)

Although my style isn’t vintage, I do like reading about people who go all out with their style. One of my favorite bloggers is Vix from Vintage Vixen, who really rocks the 70s style. Again, not my style, but I love how she’s unashamedly gone for what she loves.

I’m also reading Moll Anderson‘s decorating book, The Seductive Home. Had never heard of her before seeing her book at Bam! but it’s now one of my favorite decorating reads.

As for YouTube, I just finished watching The First Churchills  with Susan Hampshire and John Neville. The 17th century is one of my favorite historical eras to read about (but I wouldn’t want to live back then!  No thank you!) Anyway, the show is awesome, if you haven’t seen it.

Anyway, let me get up and get going. I need to run some errands and I may treat myself to some sushi while I’m out. See you later!
