Forgot to post last night that I wrote 1000 words, totally missing the double nano goal. Sigh. But at least I have today to try and hit 5000 words. Wish me luck.
One thing pointed out in Chris Baty’s book “No Plot? No Problem!” is the amount of take out food you’ll be eating. As he puts it, “Remember: You have not been put on this Earth to cook meals for yourself and write a novel.”
Truer words have never been spoken. However:
1) I do like to cook breakfast for myself. No one equals my skill at making a bacon and fried egg sandwich on wheat toast with butter. And my espresso is second to none. My Keurig wannabe machine died after two months, so I make it using espresso, a paper filter and my tea strainer. Soak in hot water; take out when water is dark. Add half and half. Delicious!
2) My local Chinese carryout cannot make General Tso’s Chicken worth a damn. You’re doing it wrong when Safeway can make it with ACTUAL WHOLE PEPPERS, and not drowning in something I can only describe as syrup. And why are you skimping on broccoli? Is there a shortage I don’t know about? Note: if you get General Tso’s Chicken drowning in sweet sauce, take out each individual piece of chicken and broccoli out and put in new container. Sprinkle with apple cider vinegar to cut down sugary taste. Doctor with red pepper flakes and reheat. It will make it edible.
3) Wawa has the best Chicken Noodle Soup on Earth.
4) Fuddruckers has ruined me for other fast food burgers. French fries too.
5) Wegmans cheese sampler platters are too die for. Why, yes that whole tray is a single serving! (Chill; it’s dessert plate sized.)
6) I can only have small bags of popcorn, potato chips and corn chips, lest I eat the whole bag. (See “cheese sampler platter” above.)
7) The cold drinks I can have are water, unsweetened iced tea and matcha green tea soda. Mostly water– still or sparkling.
8) Dessert is fresh fruit (apples, grapes and figs) or KIND bars.
9) Wasa Sourdough RyeCrisps are great with cheese slices and tea as a pick-me-up.
10) Spaghetti (or any pasta) and a salad is a great lunch (or dinner) if you are tired of take out.
Good post. I learn something new and challenging on sites I stumbleupon every day.
It will always be interesting to read content from other authors and practice
something from other sites.
